The Issue:
Lock Haven University needed a start-to-finish contractor to build a brand new 116,000-square-foot field hockey facility to accommodate the school’s recent move to Division I competition. The school also needed to repair, upgrade and replace its outdated and worn football facility after encountering frustrating draining issues. To meet the deadlines and requirements of the university, an efficient contractor with the aptitude and experience to manage all aspects of field construction for two separate but simultaneous projects was needed.

The Job: SCG was chosen for both projects based on its existing good standing with university athletic personnel and its ability to supply and guarantee custom made, high quality products. As the turnkey contractor for both fields, SCG was responsible for all aspects of site work and installation from beginning to end.

Both fields were equipped with top of the line synthetic products manufactured by long time, trusted SCG partners. The field hockey facility received AstroTurf-12, the “gold standard” of field hockey surfaces and most desired choice of D1 competitors; while the football stadium was installed with Tiger Turf 4500, upgraded with thatch zone technology.

The Results:
Lock Haven’s first sports complex project in many years was received with genuine excitement and amazement. “SCG delivered two exceptional fields and we couldn’t be happier,” said Lock Haven’s athletic director, Sharon Taylor. “We chose top of the line products for both fields and received the same level of service,” she added. “My players love the new field and this facility is one of the best I’ve ever seen,” said Pat Rudy, field hockey head coach.
