North Allegheny Takes Pride in Setting Bar High, Chooses TigerTurf and SCG

“Looks outstanding, plays like grass” Western PA’s largest school is “very happy customer” of new TigerTurf, installed by Ohio-based Sports Construction Group.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Western Pennsylvania’s North Allegheny High School prides itself on quality, so when it came to building a new field system, they sought a manufacturer and a construction company they could trust:
TigerTurf and Sports Construction Group (SCG), respectively.

Installed in summer, 2008, by SCG (based in Ohio) the state-of-the-art TigerTurf was manufactured in the U.S. by global synthetic turf manufacturer TigerTurf.

“We absolutely love it,” stated Bob Bozzuto, North Allegheny High School athletic director. “We set our standards high, and TigerTurf more than met them.”

Bozzuto said the school has, over time, earned a reputation for seeking quality products and workmanship in all that it does. “Our kids work hard, our parents work hard, our staff works hard. We like setting the bar higher.”

He said he’d been a proponent of other systems until he was exposed to TigerTurf. “This turf is less abrasive, it feels like grass and it plays like grass. We would not have been as comfortable with another manufacturer.”

Bozzuto said all the school’s coaches also love the field. “I was concerned that it might not address the specific needs of our field hockey program, but it’s been extremely well received there, too.”

A 30-year veteran in the athletic department, Bozzuto said he was introduced to TigerTurf by SCG, whose reputation and professionalism impressed him prior to and throughout completion of the field. “I had no concerns about SCG getting the job done well,” he stated. “We didn’t even worry about having contingency plans – we knew they’d deliver when they said they would.

“SCG’s people are super – very focused, very professional. They made us feel very comfortable throughout the job. The process was extremely smooth; they finished on time and went above and beyond the call of duty.”

He added that SCG did a phenomenal job on the sub-base, which is critical to the quality and longevity of the turf system. And it’s a good thing, too, as the system will see plenty of high school, middle school and community use in coming years (football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, physical education, band and more), according to Bozzuto.
